Doug Ghim (-9) leads the way after the first round of the 2025 John Deere Classic after firing a 62. He has a one-shot lead over the rest of the field, but there is a large chasing pack as there are 15 players within three shots of the lead.
Ghim was +10000 to win on DraftKings before the start of the tournament, and his odds have dropped all the way down to +900 after Thursday. He is now the favorite to win, followed by Michael Kim (-7) at +1100 odds.
Now it’s time to regroup after the first round and take a look at what DraftKings Sportsbook has to offer with three rounds in this tournament remaining.
Doug Ghim Top 5 Including Ties (+160)
Doug Ghim shot nine under par on Thursday while losing -0.73 strokes putting to the field. That is an incredible stat, and just goes to show how well he performed with the rest of his game in the opening round.
He led the field in SG Approach, SG tee to green and he was 6th in SG off the tee. Every facet of his game was on point, except for the flat stick. If Ghim can improve on the greens, he will be very tough to stop this week. I was tempted to pick him to win, but a Top 5 finish feels much more likely with the leaderboard stacked so tightly.
Despite the rough outing with the putter, Thursday marked the lowest score in his PGA TOUR career. In 488 career rounds, he finished with a 63 on four different occasions. Ghim seems to have caught fire this week, and a Top 5 finish seems likely with his irons and driver red hot.
