MLB DFS Picks: Three must-start fantasy baseball players for Wednesday 7/2/25

On this Wednesday, we’re exactly halfway through 2025 and slightly more than halfway through the MLB season; most teams have played either 85 or 86 games.

Thankfully, we still have a full-sized slate for tonight’s featured DFS contest on DraftKings. Here is one pitcher, one infielder, and one outfielder who needs to be in your lineup tonight.

Set your DraftKings fantasy baseball lineups here: MLB $200K Bat Flip [$50K to 1st]

SP Jacob Misiorowski, Milwaukee Brewers at New York Mets, $10,500

On my pitcher rankings earlier today, I put Misiorowski second only behind the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Clayton Kershaw ($8,000) in honor of the latter’s quest to become just the third active pitcher in the 3,000-strikeout club, but you also can’t go wrong with picking the Brewers youngster. I doubted him slightly before his major league debut, but his production has been downright historic. To put his dominance into context, he threw five no-hit innings in his debut on June 12…and it was his worst fantasy output. Blessed with a triple-digit fastball and a six-foot-seven frame, Misiorowski is the real deal.

I also wrote that pitcher rankings piece before I saw how the Mets looked in the opening game of the double-header. New York lost 7-2 — its 14th defeat in its last 17 games — and managed just two hits against Freddy Peralta, a good but not Misiorowski-quality starter. Across that span, the Mets have posted just a .660 OPS, a mark that would rank third-to-last in the league across the full season. Misiorowski is well-suited to stifle arguably New York’s most dangerous hitter, Pete Alonso ($5,000), given that he throws his fastball more than half the time and Alonso has been merely league-average against four-seamers.

1B/3B Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Toronto Blue Jays vs. New York Yankees, $5,500

In what has all of a sudden become a dramatic three-way battle atop the AL East, the Blue Jays trail the slumping Yankees by just a game, with the Tampa Bay Rays tied with Toronto. It hasn’t been the best of seasons for Guerrero, but he’s quietly been pretty solid over his last 10 games, recording three multi-hit efforts, slugging three homers, and slashing .250/.357/.528 (9.7 FPTS). I have high hopes for him to continue his hot form, given that he’s averaged 1.6 more FPTS per game at the Rogers Centre than on the road.

Plus, Will Warren ($7,800) is probably New York’s worst starter. Though he’s cleaned it up a little bit lately with two shutout outings among his last four, he still sports a 4.37 ERA, a mark that balloons to 5.54 on the road. All indications suggest that he’s gotten pretty unlucky — his FIP is a team-best 2.87, and his expected ERA is 3.46, but luck is only so big of a factor this late into the season. He gives up hard hits at just a ninth-percentile rate, and if there’s something Guerrero’s known for, it’s smoking the cover off the ball. Vladdy ranks in the 94th percentile in hard-hit percentage so far.

OF Andy Pages, Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Chicago White Sox, $4,200

The fact that Pages ranked sixth among NL outfielders in the second returns of All-Star voting hasn’t been without contention, but honestly, he deserves it more than his teammates Mookie Betts ($4,400) and Tommy Edman ($3,600), who also rank in the top two at their respective positions. The 24-year-old Cuban has slashed .294/.330/.503 — all upticks from last season — and he plays elite defense at all three outfield spots. He’s a little bit aggressive sometimes — he walks at just a seventh-percentile rate and chases at a 10th-percentile rate — but given that he rarely whiffs, who can blame him?

Even with right-hander Sean Burke ($5,500) likely to handle the majority of the innings, he’s earned an everyday role, starting all but one of the games in which he’s appeared (and 82 of the Dodgers’ 86 games overall). Pages been an equal-opportunity punisher, posting a .745 OPS against southpaws and an .867 OPS against righties, and he’s been even better at home, with a .968 mark in 43 games at Dodger Stadium. Burke had some control issues earlier in the season and struggles to induce ground balls, so Pages — who finds the launch-angle sweet spot at an 87th-percentile rate — should be able to find success.
