Wilyer Abreu does it all Monday 6/30/25 vs. Reds

In the 2025 MLB season, a player hit two home runs in a game 174 times. Only Matt Olson had hit an inside-the-park home run.

On Monday, Wilyer Abreu did both, becoming the only player this season to accomplish that feat. He became the eighth Red Sox player to do it and the first since Pokey Reese back in 2004.

In the fifth inning, Abreu smashed an 0-2 pitch into the centerfield triangle for the inside-the-park home run.

In the eighth inning, Abreu golfed the first pitch he saw into the right field seats for the conventional home run, except even that wasn’t conventional as there were three players on base, making it a grand slam!

Entering Monday’s game, Abreu was slashing .253/.322/.473 with a .219 ISO. He produced 14 home runs, 31 runs, 40 RBI and four stolen bases.
