There is just one game across tonight’s Saturday WNBA slate as the Dallas Wings host the Washington Mystics. This will be the second night of a back-to-back for the Wings after they fell short to the Indiana Fever last night, 94-86. Washington enters on a three-game winning streak and last played on Thursday, defeating the Las Vegas Aces 94-83.
Looking at the season overall, the Mystics hold an 8-8 record and are tied for seventh place in the WNBA. The Dallas Wings have dropped to 4-13 on the year and sit second-to-last in the league. These teams met last Sunday, resulting in a 91-88 overtime victory for the Mystics.
Heading into their second matchup of the season, the Mystics enter as six-point favorites and -265 on the Moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook. Dallas holds +215 odds on the Moneyline and the game total is set at 160.
As these teams face off for the second time this season, here are my favorite WNBA prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for the Mystics at Wings matchup.
Arike Ogunbowale Over 19.5 Points (-125)
It has been a turbulent start to the season for Arike Ogunbowale. The four-time All-Star has struggled to adapt to sharing the floor with Paige Bueckers and Dallas has not found a way to maximize the duo’s talents to this point. But this is not a problem for tonight as the WNBA’s top overall pick has been ruled out for the game due to a right knee issue.
So far this season, Ogunbowale averages 17.1 points, 4.1 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game. She is shooting just 35.9% from the field and 30.8% from beyond the three-point arc, which each mark career-lows. The Notre Dame product has averaged as many as 22.8 points per game over a season and is trending in the right direction for her production to bounce back. Ogunbowale dropped 27 points in the previous matchup with Washington and has tallied over 19.5 points in six games despite the shooting struggles and Bueckers taking some of her shot volume. In addition, DiJonai Carrington is listed as doubtful for the matchup and Maddy Siegrist will also miss, meaning Ogunbowale will be the only active player of the team’s top four scorers.
Expect this to be an opportunity for Ogunbowale to show her scoring capability as a reminder to the rest of the WNBA. She has still exploded for as many as 37 points this season and there should be as many available shots as the 2020 scoring champion sees fit. Washington ranks eighth in the league in opponent points per game and seventh in defensive rating. Count on Ogunbowale making the most of her expanded offensive role and recording over 19.5 points for the second straight time against the Mystics.
Shakira Austin to Record 25+ Points & Rebounds (+125)
Fresh on the heels of her WNBA Player of the Week honors, few players are playing to the level of Shakira Austin currently. The Mystics’ center is averaging just 11.6 and 6.6 rebounds per game on the season. However, across her past four games, she is averaging 20.3 points and 9.5 rebounds. Austin has scored double-digit points in each of her past four games and tallied a double-double in two of these. She finished with 21 points and seven rebounds in the previous matchup with the Wings.
This production increase is not coincidental as she has been plugged into the starting lineup for the past five games. After having her minutes limited during the beginning stages of the season, Austin has played 27+ minutes in each of her past five games. The 24-year-old has attempted at least 12 shots in each of the last five games and tallied seven or more rebounds in every game.
Dallas rebounds the ball at a high rate, ranking third in rebounding percentage. However, the volume of opportunities that Austin receives is more of a driving factor and she has made the most of her chances to this point. If Austin’s workload remains as high as it has been in recent games, count on there being a clear path to recording 25+ combined points and rebounds. Expect the Ole Miss product to make her mark on this matchup by rebounding the ball and getting some clear putbacks with 25+ combined points and rebounds. Getting +125 odds for a total she has cleared in four consecutive games feels like great value, and I am banking on this stretch of production continuing.
Sonia Citron Over 1.5 Made Three-Pointers (-105)
Another rookie finding her stride in recent games has been Sonia Citron. The 6-foot-1 guard is averaging 14.6 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and is shooting 38.2% from beyond the three-point arc on 4.3 perimeter attempts per game. The Notre Dame product has tallied over 1.5 made three-pointers in three of the past four games and in eight of the 16 games overall. This includes the previous matchup with the Mystics, in which Citron knocked down a three-pointer with 12.2 seconds remaining to give Washington the lead and ultimately decide the game.
Opponents have had success shooting from the perimeter against this Dallas Wings team this season. So far this year, teams have shot 37.0% from beyond the three-point arc, which is the second-worst rate in the league. Only the Chicago Sky has allowed opposing teams to connect at a higher rate from beyond the three-point arc. Citron shot 4-for-7 from beyond the three-point arc in the previous matchup between these two teams, which marks a season-high for makes and ties a season-high in perimeter attempts.
While the 32.9 minutes per game she is logging on the season is already respectable, Citron has played 34+ minutes in each of the past four games, including 41:14 of game time during the first matchup with the Wings. Her confidence has grown in this expanded opportunity, and the shot opportunities have increased as a result of each. After attempting 13+ field goal attempts just once over the opening 12 games of the season, Citron has launched 13+ field goals in four consecutive games, including 22 combined three-point attempts across this stretch. Look for her to remain hot and continue benefiting from the expanded opportunity. She should knock down a pair of three-pointers for the second straight time against the Wings and ninth time this season.
