WATCH: Lionel Messi scores free kick in Inter Miami’s 2-1 win over Porto

After an opening 0-0 draw in the FIFA Club World Cup for Inter Miami, Thursday’s game became crucial for the MLS side if they wanted to advance to the group stage. The game was tied 1-1 in the 54th minute when Inter Miami were awarded a free kick just outside the penalty area. Lionel Messi stepped up to shoot, and you already know what happened next.

The gorgeous strike ended up being the deciding goal of the match and gifted Miami a valuable three points. They now sit second in the group on four points, behind Palmeiras on goal difference. They will play the Brazilian side in the final group stage match and are guaranteed a spot in the Round of 16 with a draw or win. That game will take place on Monday, June 23rd at 9 p.m. ET.
