Wednesday offers up 15 games of MLB action, with 30 different teams taking the field. That includes a battle between the division-leading Cubs and Phillies in Philadelphia. Elsewhere, the Dodgers and Padres wrap. up their series with an afternoon rubber match. Later, the Yankees will look to keep their momentum in Kansas City against the Royals.
There’s plenty of ways to get in on today’s games with DraftKings MLB Pick6 fantasy baseball selections before tonight’s contests!
J.P. Crawford less than 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs

Despite their past reputation as an offensively limited squad, the Mariners have impressed at the plate. Seattle ranks 12th in baseball with 4.38 runs scored per game. That number is made more impressive when considering the M’s play half of their games at pitcher-friendly T-Mobile Park. Among the names that have stepped up this season, J.P. Crawford deserves mention. Over 64 games, the shortstop is slashing .284/.401/.391 with five homers and 24 RBIs.
Tonight, the Mariners will be in Phoenix to take on the Diamondbacks. Arizona will send out struggling starter Eduardo Rodriguez. Despite his ghastly 6.70 ERA, the 32-year-old tossed five innings of two-run ball last week vs. the Reds. The veteran could pose problems for Crawford, who has major issues against southpaws. This season, J.P. is hitting a paltry .210 against left-handed pitching. Keeping that in mind, don’t expect a productive afternoon from the infielder.
JP Sears less than 4.5 strikeouts

After a solid start, the Athletics have seen their season fall off a cliff. That’s due in large part to poor pitching from just about every arm on the roster. Left-hander JP Sears has been among those to fall off recently. Since May 16th, he owns a horrid 10.07 ERA over five appearances. Still, the fourth-year pro has a legitimate claim as one of the better hurlers in this awful rotation.
In theory, this afternoon should present the perfect opportunity for Sears to get back on track. The A’s will travel to SoCal for a date with the sub-.500 Angels. Los Angeles has major issues on offense, striking out at the second-highest rate per game in baseball (9.64). However, Sears hasn’t had the most success in this spot historically. During seven career outings vs. LA, the 29-year-old has notched more than four K’s only once. Coming off of a brutal few weeks, it’s difficult to envision many whiffs on Wednesday.
Manny Machado more than 1.5 total bases

It hasn’t been a very consistent campaign for the Padres, especially at the plate. Still, San Diego has gotten reliable production from superstar Manny Machado. This season, he’s hitting .325 while knocking in ten home runs and 39 RBIs. In addition, the third baseman’s batting average has risen to a pristine .400 mark over his previous seven games played.
Normally, a showdown with the Dodgers wouldn’t be the most conducive to hitting success. However, Los Angeles will be sending out spot-starter Justin Wrobleski (7.20 ERA). That alone would be enough to consider Machado tonight. To make things more interesting, the six-time All-Star is slashing .314/.388/.657 against left-handers this season. A big hit or two should be expected from Manny in this one.
Aaron Judge more than 2.5 hits + runs + RBIs

Last night, I suggested Aaron Judge would go over 2.5 hits + runs + RBIs. The big man immediately proved me right, slugging a whopping 469-foot blast in the first inning. Why not go back to the well on Wednesday? Granted, the Royals will be handing the ball to breakout star Kris Bubic tonight. This season, the sixth-year pro owns a sparkling 1.43 ERA and 1.00 WHIP.
With that being said, this is Aaron Judge we’re talking about. With all due respect to Bubic, there aren’t many arms that can keep #99 in check. This season, the outfielder is hitting .417 against left-handed pitching. In addition, Judge has five hits over eight career at-bats vs. Bubic. Expect another stat-stuffing performance on Tuesday from this generational talent.
Kyle Freeland more than 3.5 strikeouts thrown

Things have not been going well for the Rockies, winners in just 12 of their 64 games this season. Everything is a mess for Colorado, including on the mound. Staff ‘ace’ Kyle Freeland has accounted for a 5.19 ERA and 1.54 WHIP. However, the veteran has notched a far more respectable 3.64 ERA away from the hitter-friendly confines of Coors Field. At home, that number has skyrocketed to 7.71.
Freeland’s years of experience in the NL West could be useful tonight. Over eight of his last ten starts vs. San Francisco, the 32-year-old has recorded at least four strikeouts. Since May 28th, the Giants have struck out at the National League’s fourth-highest rate in baseball (103). An experienced arm such as Freeland should find his way to whiff a few batters in this one.
Robbie Ray less than 2.5 earned runs allowed

At 39-28, the Giants find themselves a half-game out of first place in the NL West. As always, San Francisco has been dominant on the mound, holding opponents to the third-fewest runs per game (3.45). One of the standouts on The Bay has been former Cy Young winner Robbie Ray. The oft-injured pitcher is finally healthy, and stellar results have followed. Over 13 starts, the former All-Star owns of a sparkling 2.44 ERA 1.07 WHIP and 87 strikeouts.
This pick is just as much about Ray as it is his opponents tonight. Colorado’s lineup is atrocious on the road, averaging a league-worst 2.50 runs per game away from Coors Field. As if things couldn’t get worse, the team struggles mightily against southpaws. This season, the Rockies have an abysmal .201 batting average against left-handers. There’s no reason to assume Ray won’t deliver a spectacular performance on Wednesday.
