The Oklahoma City Thunder opened as one of the largest favorites in NBA Finals history. However, public money has been on the Pacers on DraftKings Sportsbook, with about 75% of the money on Indy. That’s pushed OKC down from a -750 favorite in the series to -675. Even with the price moving, the disparity in price between these two teams makes it a tough one to bet.
But DraftKings Sportsbook has a unique market up that I think provides the perfect way to back the Thunder in the series. OKC has been a wagon at the Paycom Center all season, including the postseason. The Thunder are 8-1 SU/7-2 ATS at home in these playoffs, and the outright loss had to do with a collapse tied to some very questionable clock management. I’d like to think the Thunder have learned from that loss in Game 1 to Denver.
The 8-1 mark in the postseason improves OKC to 43-7 at home this season. Of course, we’ve seen the Thunder struggle a bit on the road, going 4-3 SU and still yet to cover (0-7 ATS). What’s clear is that we want to back OKC at home in this series, and DKSB is giving us an affordable way to do so. While the Thunder are a tremendous 34-14-2 ATS at home this season, and 26-13-1 ATS as a double digit favorite, I’m going to avoid laying any points and bet on OKC to win every home game in the series, offered at -120 on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Whether the Thunder play two, three or four games at home in the series, we simply need them to win them all. OKC has thrived on its home floor all season, and I expect that to continue in the NBA Finals. Favorites have gone 18-2 in Game 1 over the last 20 NBA Finals, and OKC has had over a full week off to prepare.
