The Diamondbacks’ misfortune continues as Corbin Burnes suffered an injury during Sunday’s game against the Nationals.
Arizona led 3-0 in the fifth inning when Burnes suffered the injury. He immediately called a trainer to the mound after allowing a single to CJ Abrams.
The specifics of the injury are unknown, including the cause and severity of it. Burnes pitched 4 2/3 innings on Sunday, recording six strikeouts, four hits and one walk on 70 pitches.
Jalen Beeks entered the game in the top of the fifth and allowed a hit, which gave Burnes an earned run for his outing. Beeks then got the third out, finalizing Burnes’ stats for the game. He won’t be eligible for the win or a quality start.
