The PBC is hosting a boxing event in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday, May 31, at the Michelob Ultra Arena. Interim WBA Super Middleweight Champion Caleb Plant is defending his title against Armando Resendiz in the Main Event, while former WBC Middleweight Champion Jermall Charlo is making his long-awaited return against Thomas LaManna in the co-main event.
Even though Charlo hasn’t fought in 18 months (since November 2023), he is still among the best middleweight fighters. Charlo is a massive -1400 favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook in this contest, which is insane after his long layoff. His opponent, LaManna, is riding a nine-fight win streak with four knockouts in a row.
Although Plant and Charlo aren’t fighting this Saturday, they are building up to that fight. However, as we saw in Times Square on May 2 with Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney, things in combat sports don’t always go as planned. But you would think this fight would come to fruition in the future, as both are massive favorites.
Plant is a -2500 favorite, as Resendiz is a +1100 underdog on DraftKings Sportsbook. In his last seven fights, Plant is 5-2 with four knockouts. Trevor McCumby knocked Plant down in the fourth round in his previous fight. But Plant bounced back and finished him in the ninth round. Plant is an incredible showman, and when he steps foot in the ring, he isn’t just looking for a win but one in spectacular fashion.
The Main Card begins on Amazon Prime Video at 8:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 30, and the Main Event ring walks are scheduled to start at midnight.
