12 games of MLB action will take place across today’s Memorial Day slate of baseball. The Detroit Tigers will host the San Francisco Giants for a 1:10 p.m. ET start for the opening game of the day. Games will be starting up at a regular rate throughout the rest of the afternoon, building out to the final matchup at 9:38 p.m. ET between the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels. This article will look at my top Pick6 plays for today’s action, 5/26/25. You simply choose whether each set statistic will be more or less than the set number. With the stage set, here are my favorite picks on the MLB slate.
Francisco Lindor More Than 0.5 Home Runs
The New York Mets will open up a series against the Chicago White Sox with a former Met on the mound for Chicago. Adrian Houser will be making his second start of the season after going 1-5 with a 5.84 ERA last season in New York. He allowed eight home runs in just seven starts, 23 games pitched, and 69.1 innings pitched.
Houser has been especially vulnerable to left-handed hitters, while Lindor has hit eight of his 10 home runs against right-handed pitching. Lindor has also hit the ball much better at home this season, hitting .354 with a .626 slugging percentage compared to a .200 average and .309 slugging on the road. He has one hit against Houser, dating back before last season with the Mets. The Mets’ star has not hit a home run in his past three games, but I like the situation for him back at home today. With a favorable matchup in his home park, look for Lindor to tally his 11th home run of the season.
Junior Caminero More Than 0.5 Runs Batted In
Now in his third season, Junior Caminero is amid a breakout year with the Rays. He has tallied 45 hits, nine home runs, and 24 RBIs this season, which already surpasses his production across the limited opportunities he saw the past two seasons. Caminero has been especially hot of late, going 5-for-11 with a home run and three doubles over his past three games. He has some legitimate power, producing a 31-home run season in the minor leagues at 19 years old, and this is starting to translate at the MLB level.
Chris Paddack will be on the mound for the Twins today. Through his opening six starts, Paddack is posting a 3.98 ERA and has given up as many as nine earned runs in a start this season. Caminero is hitting .301 at home compared to .129 on the road, as well as .266 against right-handed pitching versus .193 when facing lefties. The 21-year-old had a pair of doubles yesterday and has tallied four RBIs across his past two games. Look for this hot streak to continue today and for Caminero to add another RBI to his growing total.
Andrew Heaney Less Than 3.5 Strikeouts
The Pittsburgh Pirates open up a series against the Arizona Diamondbacks today with Andrew Heaney on the mound. The journeyman pitcher is off to one of the best starts of his career, posting a 2.91 ERA with 42 hits allowed and 42 strikeouts in his first 55.2 innings pitched. Heaney has never been a high-volume strikeout pitcher, even while performing at a high level. He has been held to less than 3.5 strikeouts in five of his 10 starts this season, including four of his past five.
On top of this, the Diamondbacks are striking out against left-handed pitchers at the lowest rate of any team in the league. They have struck out at just a 16.2% rate so far this season, which is 2.1% lower than any other team in the MLB. 3.5 is a low total, but I am backing Heaney to remain below this number for the fifth time in the past six starts.
Oneil Cruz More Than 1.5 Total Bases
On the offensive side of the ball, Oneil Cruz has been red-hot at the plate. Freshly off breaking the MLB record for fastest exit velocity of the statcast era on a 122.9 mile per hour home run, he will carry this momentum into Arizona today. Cruz has been one of the biggest bright spots on this Pirates team, slashing .236/.362/.491 with 11 home runs and 23 RBIs. He is posting a career-high .853 OPS and is also leading the National League with 18 stolen bases.
Ryne Nelson will be getting the start for the Diamondbacks, entering with a 4.60 ERA and having given up 25 hits and 16 earned runs across his first 31.1 innings pitched. Nelson is also allowing an opponent’s batting average of .294 at home compared to .234 on the road. Cruz is logging a .995 OPS against right-handed pitchers this season, with 10 of his 11 home runs coming against righties. He enters this matchup on a five-game hitting streak and has tallied more than 1.5 total bases in three of his past four. Look for Cruz to continue building off his strong start to the season with more than 1.5 total bases in today’s game.
Cody Bellinger More Than 0.5 Runs Batted In
The Yankees will face the Angels in the final matchup of today’s game after putting up 21 runs in the three-game series against the Rockies. After getting off to a sluggish start to the season, Cody Bellinger has started to find his footing in his first season in New York. Across the 19 games he has played in May, Bellinger is slashing .333/.391/.615 with five home runs and 15 RBIs.
This is a great opportunity to build on this against the Angels. Jack Kochanowicz will be on the mound for Los Angeles, who has a 5.03 ERA with 31 earned runs conceded across his opening 53.2 innings pitched. Left-handed hitters are batting .327 against Kochanowicz compared to .233 against righties, and eight of the nine home runs allowed have come to lefties. Bellinger has tallied an RBI in five of his past seven games with 10 total RBIs across this stretch. Look for the former MVP to continue building off this and add another RBI to his total today.
Trent Grisham More Than 0.5 Runs Batted In
Another left-handed hitter who should be in line to get in on the production tonight is Trent Grisham. The centerfielder is slashing .257.354/.543 this season with 12 home runs and 24 RBIs. Grisham has also performed better on the road this season. He is posting a .570 slugging percentage while away compared to a .508 slugging percentage at home this season. The 28-year-old had an off day yesterday after a double with two RBIs against the Rockies on Saturday.
Kochanowicz allowed two home runs in his last start against the Athletics and has allowed at least one earned run in every start this season. He also has only limited teams to one earned run in two of 10 starts. Grisham is a beneficiary of a loaded Yankees lineup and cannot be pitched around. He has tallied four hits over his past six games, and I like his chances of getting a hold of one today to drive in a run today.
