It’s Memorial Day, which means a full day of baseball goodness. It also means an earlier than usual lineup lock, as today’s featured seven-game slate on DraftKings gets going at 1:10 p.m. ET.

Nick Martinez, Cincinnati Reds at Kansas City Royals, $7,300 – You’re never going to mistake Nick Martinez for Pedro Martinez, as the 34-year-old’s strikeout rate is just not overly impressive. However, that’s not the only way to be viable in DFS. Across his last six outings, Martinez has maintained a 1.96 ERA and a 2.35 FIP over 36.2 innings of work. It’s a span where he’s conceded one earned run or fewer in four starts and twice exceeded 20 FPTS. Expect the good times to keep rolling in a matchup with a Royals lineup that sits 27th in baseball in wRC+ (82).
INFIELD

Ivan Herrera, St. Louis Cardinals at Baltimore Orioles, $5,700 – At first glance, this is a ridiculous price to pay for the services of a backstop, yet it only takes one glance at Herrera’s Baseball Savant page to make things start to make sense. He doesn’t have the plate appearances to qualify, but Herrera’s .427 expected wOBA and .610 expected slugging would both easily rank above the 95th percentile in the sport in 2025. Need a larger sample? Well, for his entire career, the 24-year-old is now batting .309 with a 137 wRC+ in 407 PAs. Today, Herrera and the Cardinals will square-off with Charlie Morton ($5,500), who possesses a ghastly 10.22 ERA as a starter this season.

Marcelo Mayer, Boston Red Sox at Milwaukee Brewers, $3,000 – You’re probably not going to be able to get Mayer this cheap for much longer. After a rough MLB debut with three strikeouts, Mayer showed his potential on Sunday with a pair of hits, including his first-career double. The former fourth-overall pick is currently ranked as the eighth-best prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline. Between that and his nine long balls in just 170 at-bats at Triple-A, the kid clearly has some upside and promise in DFS. On Monday, Mayer will draw an opposite-hand matchup with Chad Patrick ($7,000).
OUTFIELD

Seiya Suzuki, Chicago Cubs vs. Colorado Rockies, $5,600 – It’s pretty hilarious that the three most-expensive outfielders on today’s slate all play for the Cubs. I mean, imagine if this game was at Coors? In any case, Carson Palmquist ($5,000) will once again take the mound for the Rockies, and regardless of setting, that’s amazing news for Chicago’s bats. In 8.1 innings at the MLB level, Palmquist has allowed 16 hits and 11 earned runs. Woof. He’s also left-handed. That’s music to the ears of Suzuki, who is slashing .370/.444/.826 with a 243 wRC+ in his 54 plate appearances against southpaws so far in 2025.

Mike Yastrzemski, San Francisco Giants at Detroit Tigers, $4,100 – On the whole, the Giants’ offense has been pretty underwhelming so far in 2025, but they should be able to find some success against Keider Montero ($6,000) — specifically the left-handed bats. It’s a limited sample, but the 61 LHBs that have faced Montero this season have combined to hit .365 with a .471 wOBA. Meanwhile, Yastrzemski owns a 140 wRC+ off RHPs. That’s likely why he’s been locked into the team’s leadoff spot when San Francisco is opposed by a right-hander.
