In the bottom of the 10th inning of Saturday’s game versus the Philadelphia Phillies, Nick Kurtz injured his hip after tagging up. The injury has been designated as a left hip flexor.

On Sunday, the Athletics kept the status of Kurtz as day-to-day and will see how he feels on Monday before contemplating an IL stint.

Logan Davidson received the start on Sunday and would likely be the one to man first base if Kurts misses an extended period of time.

Davidson is 27 years old, 6’3″, 185 pounds and bats from the right side. The Athletics selected him with the 29th overall selection in the 2019 MLB draft.

Early in his minor league career, the walk rate was over 10% while the strikeout rate was in the 20% range. The power didn’t manifest until a few seasons ago. In 347 Triple-A plate appearances last season, Davidson slashed .300/.366/.535 with a 7.8% walk rate, 31.1% strikeout rate and .235 ISO.
