How the public is betting Pacers vs. Knicks Game 3

Updated:

By: Sean Barnard

The Pacers have climbed out to a convincing 2-0 series lead over the Knicks, with the series traveling to Indiana today. New York finds itself in a difficult spot as only 7.3% of NBA teams have been able to come back to win the series after falling down 2-0 in the opening two games across 465 postseason matchups.

Both these teams have already shown plenty of resiliency throughout this playoff run, and the Knicks will be calling upon that again today. Everything seems to be on the table with reports surfacing of a possible lineup change to help spark this Knicks team. The series market has shifted in a major way with Indiana now holding -525 odds on DraftKings Sportsbook of advancing to the NBA Finals after opening up as slight underdogs. Oddsmakers give the Knicks a +400 chance of coming back to win the series, with these odds sure to shift notably after today’s game.

Looking at the Game 3 odds, the Pacers enter as two-point favorites and -130 on the moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Knicks hold +110 odds on the moneyline with the game total set at 224.

Looking at the bets placed on DraftKings Sportsbook, it is an interesting mix.

Pacers vs. Knicks Betting Splits:

Looking at the moneyline, 63% of bets and 78% of the betting handle are backing the Knicks to win and cut the series deficit to 2-1. This leaves just 37% of bets and 22% of the betting handle backing Indiana to take a commanding 3-0 series lead.

However, just 46% of the bets and 53% of the betting handle are backing the Knicks on the +2 spread. The Pacers make up 54% of the bets and 47% of the betting handle to cover the -2 margin, which is a somewhat surprising contrast given the narrow spread.

The largest discrepancy is on the game total, with 78% of bets placed and 79% of the betting handle backing the game to go over the 224-point margin. These teams cruised past this total in the opening game, with the final score finishing 138-135 and combining for 250 points before the overtime period. Game 2 fell just short of this number, with the game finishing 114-109, or 223 total points scored.
