Salvador Perez has been one of the great wonders in MLB over the last decade. Every year we expect Father Time to remain undefeated yet, since 2015, he’s hit at least 20 home runs in every season except for one: 2020, a shortened season.

In 199 plate appearances this season at 35 years old, his ISO is at a career-low .122. Is this the beginning of the end? Sample size is still too small and there’s lots of baseball left in the season.

That said, Perez will be out for Friday’s game against the Minnesota Twins. He was slated to start and bat cleanup, but was scratched late due to an illness.

Freddy Fermin ($2,400) will get the start at catcher and bat seventh in the lineup. In 95 plate appearances this season, Fermin is slashing .236/.277/.281 with a 4.2% walk rate, 16.8% strikeout rate and a .045 ISO. He has a career .115 ISO.
