The Fever improved to 2-1 after Thursday’s 81-76 win over the Dream, but it was not Caitlin Clark who led them.
Clark had her worst game of the young season so far, scoring just 11 points on 4-of-11 shooting, including 0-of-5 from downtown. She did add four rebounds and six assists, again showing her ability to impact the game even when her shot isn’t falling.
Clark also got into a bit of a dust-up with Atlanta’s Rhyne Howard at the end of the first quarter after Howard was playing some chippy defense. Clark then mouthed the words “I’m not scared of you” to Howard after the the two were separated.
Natasha Howard led Indiana in this game with 26 points on 12-of-17 shooting. She also added seven rebounds.
Kelsey Mitchell chipped in 17 points as well.
The Fever bench was instrumental in this win, as Sophie Cunningham and Lexie Hull led the team in plus/minus, posting games of +10 and +14, respectively. Hull had 10 points to Cunningham’s nine, and the two each knocked down a pair of threes.
As for the Dream, it was Howard who did most of the damage on the offensive end, scoring 24 points. Brionna Jones also double-doubled with 15 points and 11 boards.
Both of these teams play next on Saturday, with the Fever hosting the Liberty and the Dream hosting the Wings.
