Last night, the Dodgers and Diamondbacks played ten innings of baseball, culminating in a 4-3 win for LA. On Wednesday, these two rivals will do battle once again in the second leg of a three-game series. Leading the charge for the Dodgers is Shohei Ohtani; what should we expect from the superstar during tonight’s contest?
The Dodgers enter Wednesday as favorites (-142), with the over/under set at 9.5 runs (-102). Before the start of tonight’s matchup, here’s my favorite Shohei Ohtani player prop bet on DraftKings Sportsbook.

At this point, what more is there to say about Shohei Ohtani? The slugger is enjoying another terrific season in Dodger Blue, kick-starting one of baseball’s best offenses. Through 47 games, he’s slashing .311/.405/.668 at the plate. In addition, he leads the majors with 17 home runs and 52 runs scored.
Part of what makes Ohtani so dangerous is his supporting cast. Los Angeles’ leadoff hitter is surrounded by phenomenal batters, including Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts. Elite speed on the base paths also forces opposing pitchers to think twice about walking the Japanese superstar. Ohtani has been locked in recently, hitting .345 with seven homers and 16 RBIs over his last 13 outings.
As good as LA’s face of the franchise has been, he’ll have his hands full against Corbin Burnes tonight. Arizona’s ace has gotten off to a solid start, posting a 2.56 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 43 strikeouts over 45.2 innings pitched. In his last start against the Dodgers, on May 10th, the former Cy Young winner tossed seven scoreless innings.
Burnes, for all his greatness, hasn’t had much success against Ohtani (then again, who has?). The four-time All-Star has recorded four hits and one home run over eight career at-bats against the right-hander. Showtime has managed to notch a base hit in 35 of his 47 appearances this season. However, the odds on him getting another hit tonight are fairly high (-285).
As an alternative, consider backing Ohtani to get at least one single on Wednesday. It’s not the easiest bet to support, considering how hard he normally hits the ball. Still, Burnes has given up just five homers this season (1.0 HR/9 ratio). That number hints at his ability to keep offenses from going deep. Finding plus money for a name such as Ohtani isn’t easy; all it takes is one single to cash in on this total.
