Fresh off their Super Bowl victory, the Philadelphia Eagles have rewarded head coach Nick Sirianni with a contract extension.
The Philadelphia Eagles team account released a statement through Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, saying, “As an organization, we have always strived to create a championship culture of sustained success. Nothing is more important to fostering such an environment than having tremendous leadership. Nick has embodied everything we were looking for in a head coach since we hired him four years ago. His authentic style of leadership, football intelligence, passion for the game, and growth mindset have helped to bring out the best in our team. I am excited for what the future holds for the Philadelphia Eagles.”
It has been a turbulent tenure in Philadelphia for Sirianni, who was hired ahead of the 2021 season. His opening press conference was filled with analogies and metaphors that did not quite connect with the sports-crazed fan base, who cast a skeptical eye on Sirianni from his opening year.
But, the first-time head coach has led the Eagles to a winning record and a playoff opportunity in all four seasons at the helm. Sirianni has a 48-20 regular season record as a head coach, this 70.6% winning percentage ranks at the top among active head coaches and currently ranks fifth in NFL history. He has taken the team to two Super Bowls in the past four years, doing so with completely different coordinators and overall coaching staffs.
Even heading into last season, the expectation seemed that Sirianni was coaching for his job. He passed this test, leading the Eagles organization to their second Super Bowl in franchise history. The 40-22 stomping over the Kansas City Chiefs was the second-largest Super Bowl victory in the past decade. Sirianni would have been entering the final season of his initial five-year contract had it not been for this extension.
Philadelphia remains in the driver’s seat heading into the 2025-26 season, entering the season as +650 favorites to win the Super Bowl on DraftKings Sportsbook. Philadelphia also holds +310 odds of winning the NFC and are -140 favorites to win the NFC East.
Sirianni’s fiery personality would not be a match everywhere, but you cannot argue with the results. Philadelphia has its guy locked up for the foreseeable future and will be looking to continue their chase for future success with the core of the roster remaining intact as well.
