After a busy Rivalry Weekend, Major League Baseball is back with a dozen games on the schedule Monday night to fire up the work week. The first games get underway at 6:40 p.m. ET in Miami and Pittsburgh, with the last game starting at 10:10 p.m. ET out in Los Angeles. Let’s take a look at the 24 starters toeing the rubber on Monday and find some starting pitcher prop bets! My three top picks for Monday include plays from Edward Cabrera, Robbie Ray, and Jose Soriano.
Yesterday, I just missed on two of my starting pitcher prop bets, going 1-2 since Max Fried came up one out short. Hopefully, we can bounce back and get back in the win column this Monday.
Every day of the season, DraftKings Sportsbook offers multiple ways to get in on the action with player props, Moneylines and picks against the spread from each MLB contest. You can also pick series winners, award winners and team futures as well, so be sure to check out all the options available on the MLB page of DraftKings Sportsbook.
Here is a look at my top starting pitcher prop bets for this Monday.
Best Starting Pitcher Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
Edward Cabrera over 4.5 Hits allowed (-110)
The Cubs have one of the best offenses in baseball, hitting .254 as a team and averaging 5.7 runs per game. In this pick in my starting pitcher prop bets, though, I’m not going with runs, but with hits allowed by Marlins’ starter Edward Cabrera. In their 47 games, the Cubs are averaging 8.8 hits per game on the season, so they should be able to get at least five against Cabrera.
Cabrera has allowed 32 hits in his 31 1/3 innings this season, with an average of 5.3 hits allowed per game. He only allowed three hits in his last start, but that was against the White Sox, which is a much easier matchup than their crosstown rivals. In each of his three starts before that, he gave up at least five hits to the Athletics, Dodgers, and Reds.
His start was pushed back a couple of days due to fluid buildup near his fingernail, but as long as he’s not limited by that injury and forced to leave early, the Cubs should be able to get at least five hits off him this Monday.
Robbie Ray 7+ Strikeouts (+155)
Ray has at least eight strikeouts in three of his last four starts, so getting him at plus-money to get seven at home against the Royals is another one of my top starting pitcher prop bets for Monday. Ray has a total of 55 strikeouts in his nine starts this season and is an impressive 6-0 with a 3.04 ERA, 3.74 FIP, and 1.25 WHIP.
Ray has 8+ strikeouts in each of his last three home starts and is coming off a season-high nine strikeouts against the Dbacks last Tuesday. He seems to be finally healthy after back-to-back injury-riddled seasons. He has a high walk rate, but the strikeouts are definitely back for the 2021 AL Cy Young winner.
On Monday, he gets a favorable matchup against the Royals, who have scored the fourth-fewest runs scored in the majors this year and are hitting only .238 on the season against left-handed pitching. While they typically do a good job at strikeout suppression, they have a 21.8% strikeout rate against lefties.
Jose Soriano to Record a Win (+185)
The Angels have looked much better lately and are coming into their series in Sacramento off a big sweep of the Dodgers in the Freeway Series over the weekend. The offense scored 6+ runs in each of those wins and seems to have found a nice groove. They’ll have a good matchup on Monday against J.T. Ginn, which I highlighted in my top MLB stacks for the day.
Soriano has been pitching well this season, and if he gets the run support I expect, he should have a good shot at a win. It’s a long-shot play since so many things always have to go right for a starting pitcher to get a victory, but I love the value here at almost +200.
Soriano is 2-4 in his nine starts but has allowed three earned runs or fewer in seven of those nine starts and failed to get at least five innings only one time. He didn’t give up any earned runs in his last start in seven strong innings against the Padres. While he hasn’t won since April 10, he still gets the call as the final of my three starting pitcher prop bets for this Monday since I like how the Halos looked over the weekend and think he’ll be able to hold the A’s in check at Sutter Health Park.
