Diamondbacks SP Eduardo Rodriguez injury status Friday 5/16/25

In 44.2 innings this season, Eduardo Rodriguez has struck out 52 batters. That’s good. He’s also had some bad luck, as the BABIP is .376, strand rate is only 54% and the FIP of 4.31 is well below the 7.05 ERA.

That said, earned runs are earned runs at the end of the day, and Rodriguez has given up plenty recently. Over his last five starts, he allowed at least three in every contest with six and eight earned runs allowed in two.

After Wednesday’s start, Rodriguez told the team that he felt something in his shoulder. On Friday, the Diamondbacks placed Rodriguez on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 15th, due to shoulder inflammation.

The earliest Rodriguez could return would be May 29th. His turn in the rotation isn’t up until May 31st, the second game of a three-game set with the Washington Nationals at home.
