It’s a Tuesday night in MLB, which means that all 30 teams are in action and that the DraftKings Sportsbook has thousands of available lines, odds and props on the diamond. It almost brings a tear to my eye.
Still, “thousands” is a pretty large number. Let’s try and narrow things down a little bit, shall we? Here are a couple of my best MLB bets for tonight’s massive slate.
Boston Red Sox at Detroit Tigers
Brayan Bello 3+ Earned Runs Allowed (+110)
It’s legitimately wild that Bello’s managed to maintain a 2.01 ERA so far this season. Heck, the 25-year-old has somehow only allowed more than one earned run in one of his four outings in 2025. I beg you to not be fooled by the pretty surface stats. It doesn’t take more than a quick look under the hood to see that Bello’s actually been quite awful since coming off the IL for the Red Sox.
Let’s start with the obvious. Bello simply isn’t going to sustain a 97.1% strand rate for the entirety of the season — especially when he’s rocking career-lows in both strikeout rate (13.8%) and swinging strike rate (8.1%). In fact, in his 22.1 innings of work, Bello’s actually registered more free passes (12 walks and two HBPs) than strikeouts (13). At some point, those walks are going to come around to score. All of this is why Bello’s xERA (5.53) and FIP (5.57) are so hilariously inflated.
The other aspect to remember with this prop is how red-hot the Tigers’ bats are at the moment. We’re talking about more than hanging 14 runs on Boston on Monday, too. Across the past two weeks, Detroit ranks second in MLB in batting average (.293), fourth in wOBA (.362) and fourth in wRC+ (136). The luck ends tonight. Expect the Tigers to muster a couple crooked numbers off Bello.
Chicago White Sox at Cincinnati Reds
Jonathan Cannon Over 4.5 Strikeouts (+120)
You’re not every going to confuse Jonathan Cannon for Roger Clemens, but this is a prop that the right-hander has cleared in four of his eight appearances so far in 2025. Again, Cannon is not known for his strikeout abilities, as evidenced by his 13th percentile whiff rate (19.7%) and his 19th percentile strikeout rate (16.9%). However, Cannon has worked at least six innings in his last four games. The best way to overcome efficiency issues is simply pure volume.
Matchup plays a huge factor with this prop, too. The Reds just haven’t been able to hit for a couple of weeks now, sporting a .199 team batting average and 65 wRC+ over the past 14 days. Those struggles should allow Cannon to work deep into tonight’s start. If that wasn’t enough, in that same span, Cincinnati owns the National League’s highest strikeout rate at 27.4%. It’s a perfect storm.
New York Yankees at Seattle Mariners
Under 6.5 (+125)
This is a loooooooow total. I get it. Especially for a game featuring the AL’s two best offensive lineups according to wRC+. But, at the same time, this tilt also lines up as an amazing pitcher’s duel between Max Fried and Bryan Woo. That’s the real draw.
With so many injuries in Seattle’s rotation at the moment — and Luis Castillo struggling — Woo has sort of been the Mariners’ ace in 2025. The numbers back that up. In 44.1 innings of work, Woo has pitched to a 3.25 ERA and a 2.86 xERA. Part of Woo’s success is simply his unwillingness to concede free passes. In fact, among pitchers with at least 150 innings thrown since the start of 2024, Woo’s 3.3% walk rate is the second-lowest mark in baseball. He’s also always been amazing when getting the opportunity to pitch in Seattle. In that same two-year span, Woo’s maintained a 2.27 ERA at T-Mobile Park, limiting opponents to a .188/.214/.293 slash line.
As for Fried, it’d be hard to ask for more in his first campaign with the Yankees. His .231 BABIP will normalize at some point, which is why his FIP is sitting at 2.92, yet six earned runs in 51.2 innings is an incredible feat no matter how you slice it. Obviously, Fried’s 1.05 ERA is currently the lowest qualified mark in MLB. Tonight’s isn’t a great matchup, but it is worth noting that the Mariners’ have mustered just a 106 wRC+ against LHPs as opposed to an eye-popping 123 wRC+ when facing an RHP this season.
