The Denver Broncos are one of the fastest-rising teams in the AFC after hitting with 12th overall pick Bo Nix, who finished third in AP Offensive Rookie of the Year voting after completing 66.7% of his passes for 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 12 picks and leading his team to a 10-7 record. Denver’s playoff run ended quickly with a 31-7 throttling at the hands of the Buffalo Bills in the Wild Card Round, but the Broncos’ future is bright.
Denver’s backbone, besides Nix, is its defense. Cornerback Patrick Surtain II won AP Defensive Player of the Year, the first secondary player to win the award since the New England Patriots’ Stephon Gilmore in 2019. The Broncos then passed up on North Carolina running back Omarion Hampton — who would’ve filled a position of need — by taking Texas’ Jahdae Barron, arguably the best cornerback in the class.
