Down three runs in the top of the eighth inning, Fernando Tatis Jr. ($6,200) came up to the plate with two men on.

On the first pitch, he swung and missed at a Devin Williams changeup. He took the second pitch, another changeup just below the strike zone. Williams came right back with another changeup that looked to be low again, but was called a strike.

Padres manager Mike Shildt started barking at the umpire from the dugout, which elicited a response from the umpire.

On the next pitch, Williams threw another changeup that Tatis swung over for the strikeout. As Tatis walked out of the batter’s box, he got close to the umpire and said some words, which got him ejected from the game.
