The face of boxing and the sport’s biggest superstar, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, returns on Saturday, May 3, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Canelo will take on IBF Super Middleweight Champion William Scull in an Undisputed title bout.

This is significant for many reasons, but to start, it’s Canelo’s first fight outside of Mexico or the United States in his professional boxing career. Canelo will likely make a few other appearances in Saudi Arabia since he signed a five-fight deal with Turki Al-Sheikh for a reportedly $400 million. This is one of the richest contracts in boxing history.

Canelo fighting in Las Vegas, Nevada, has become a tradition. Six of his previous seven bouts took place in Sin City. Canelo has already agreed to face former Welterweight Undisputed Champion Terence Crawford in September 2025. But Canelo must get past Scull before he can look forward to a mega fight with Crawford.

In this fight, Canelo is the favorite at -3000 with Scull being a massive +1400 underdog on DraftKings Sportsbook. Canelo has a five-fight winning streak since his second career defeat to Dmitrii Bivol in May 2022. In his previous bout, Canelo beat Edgar Berlanga by unanimous decision in September 2024. Scull won the IBF title against Vladimir Shishkin in October 2024. With a win over Scull, Canelo would become a two-time 168-pound undisputed champion.

Former opponent of Canelo, Jaime Munguia, is having a rematch against Bruno Surace on Saturday. Before Munguia fought Canelo in May 2024, he was 44-0. But since then, Munguia has gone 1-2. Surace knocked Munguia out in December 2024 and now has a record of 26-0-2 at 26 years old. Even though Surace won the first fight, Munguia is still a big -1100 favorite in this bout.

The main card begins on DAZN PPV at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, and the Main Event ring walks are scheduled to start at 11:00 p.m. ET.
