The Cincinnati Reds and Arizona Diamondbacks both entering Thursday’s series finale in Cincinnati with a losing record and looking to avoid falling too far out of the National League playoff race.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Cincinnati Reds (-120, 9)

Hunter Greene gets the start on the mound for Cincinnati, who enters with a 3.12 ERA and 3.02 fielding independent with 10.5 strikeouts and 0.4 home runs allowed per nine innings.

Greene’s task is to shut down a Diamondbacks lineup that entered Wednesday fifth in the league in scoring with over five runs per game, but they entered 11th in runs per game on the road with their average falling to 4.8 runs per game.

Diamondbacks starting pitcher Slade Cecconi will look for all the support he can get as he enters with a 4.96 ERA and 1.7 home runs per nine innings allowed, though he’s also been smart with with pitch count with allowing just 1.7 walks per nine innings.

Both teams are relative equals when it comes to the battle of bullpens with the Reds entering Wednesday with a 4.59 ERA in the bullpen and the Diamondbacks a 4.60 ERA.

With the Diamondbacks not hitting the same away from home and Greene’s home runs per nine innings rate allowed down by more than a full home run from his first two seasons in the league, the Reds will win Thursday’s series finale.
