UPDATE 4/27/25: Butler is questionable for Monday’s Game 4.

UPDATE: Jimmy Butler has been ruled out for Saturday’s Game 3 due to the pelvic contusion suffered in Game 2. Jonathan Kuminga will slide into the starting lineup. Steve Kerr has also decided to make an additional change to the starting lineup, as Quinten Post will be starting for Moses Moody.
Jimmy Butler is officially listed as questionable with a pelvic and deep gluteal contusion ahead of Saturday’s Game 3 matchup with the Rockets.

The injury occurred on a play in the first quarter of Game 2 in which Amen Thompson tripped into an airborne Butler, causing a scary fall. Butler remained down on the floor for an extended period before getting to his feet. He remained in the game to shoot his free throws before limping off to the locker room on the next stoppage.
Butler was ruled out for the remainder of the game shortly following his trip to the locker room, but it is encouraging news that the door remains open for Game 3. The Warriors and Rockets matchup has proven to be one of the more competitive opening-round series, with things even at one game apiece. Game 3 will be taking place at the Chase Center in San Francisco, California.
The outlook for the Warriors greatly shifts depending on Butler’s availability. Golden State took a massive swing, bringing him in at the trade deadline, and has reaped the benefits. The Warriors were 25-27 before the trade and were questionable to even make the playoffs. They went on a 23-7 tear to close the season with Butler in the lineup.
Golden State currently holds -170 odds on DraftKings Sportsbook of winning this first-round series, while the Rockets hold +140 odds of advancing.
Even with Butler questionable, Golden State is listed as 2.5-point favorites and holds -135 odds on the moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook in Game 3. The Rockets hold +114 moneyline odds and the over/under is set at 203.5.
