Jordan Beck showed tremendous promise during his minor league career, batting around .290 with a .200 ISO, 13% walk rate and 20% strikeout rate. He hit at least 20 home runs twice and stole 20 bases once.
He made his MLB debut in 2024 and hit three home runs and stole seven bases in 184 plate appearances. The slash was only .188/.245/.276 with a .088 ISO. The walk rate was only 6.5% while the strikeout rate ballooned to 35.3%.
2025 has been worse. Entering Thursday, Beck was slashing .167/.265/.233 with a .067 ISO. While the walk rate is back up to 11.8%, the strikeout rate is 41.2%. The sample size has been low, though, with only 34 plate appearances. In addition, he spent eight games in Triple-A as Zac Veen was up.
Well, Veen was sent down and Beck had himself quite the day on Thursday.
With Wednesday’s game postponed due to inclement weather, the Rockies played a double-header on Thursday. In the early game, Beck went 2-for-3 with a home run.
