The 2025 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday, April 24, and the Cleveland Browns have the No. 2 pick. With the top choice all but locked in, Cleveland is where the draft will get interesting. There are so many directions it can go, as the roster is in dire shape. Will the Browns address their need at quarterback, or will they draft a sidekick for All-Pro DE Myles Garrett? Perhaps they address two positions at once? The possibilities are tantalizing.
Trade Odds: Medium to High
This is where things get interesting. Cleveland is fielding calls for the No. 2 pick, per NFL insider Peter Schrager. It’s possible that the price won’t match the value Cleveland places on the pick, but perhaps a team is desperate to get their top guy. If a team is determined and Cleveland gets the right package to move back a few slots, perhaps a deal gets done. Don’t be surprised if major drama occurs with the second overall selection.
The Pick: Colorado CB/WR Travis Hunter
Assuming Cleveland stays put at No. 2, it feels like Travis Hunter is the choice. He’s the -900 favorite at No. 2 for good reason. First and foremost, Cleveland needs an infusion of excitement after several depressing seasons. Just about everything has gone wrong since trading for Deshaun Watson.
Secondly, Cleveland is in a unique position to let Hunter try out his two-way play. Jerry Jeudy was one of the breakout receivers this past season and can take the burden off Hunter as the primary playmaker. David Njoku remains one of the better receiving tight ends in the league as well. Hunter would form a solid receiving trio from the jump and won’t have to be the undisputed top target.
They’re also well-positioned to accommodate him defensively. Denzel Ward is one of the premier corners in the league and will take on the toughest matchups. Hunter can slot in as CB2 above Greg Newsome II, who has largely struggled since being picked in the first round of the 2021 draft. Hunter’s playmaking skills will work well covering No. 2 or No. 3 options, which will lessen his overall burden.
Hunter is a unique talent and will have immense pressure on his shoulders. All eyes would be on how this Browns coaching staff deploys him.
