The 2025 NFL Draft kicks off on Thursday April 24, and the Tennessee Titans are on the clock. It’s been long rumored that their eyes are fixated on Miami QB Cam Ward. Are we in for an all-time surprise come Thursday night, or will the Titans go chalk and select their franchise quarterback?
Trade Odds: Low
Rumors are circulating that teams are looking to trade up. It’s possible that someone may jump up as high as No. 2. This reinforces the idea that Tennessee is locked in with its first pick. If the top choice is all but guaranteed, then the bidding begins at No. 2. It would be a big shock for the Titans to pivot and trade down now.
The Pick: Miami QB Cam Ward
What did you expect? I’d go against the -20000 favorite?
Craziness always happens on draft night. In this case, the drama begins at No. 2. New Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi has his guy. No need to think twice.
Ward, 22, skyrocketed up draft boards as a transfer from Washington State. He led the nation with 39 passing touchdowns in addition to 4,313 yards, a 67.2% completion rate and 9.5 yards per attempt. That yards-per-attempt mark paced the entire ACC. Ward’s excellence powered Miami to a 10-3 record, its best mark since 2017, and he finished fourth in Heisman voting, in addition to earning an All-American nod.
The presumptive No. 1 pick will replace incumbent QB Will Levis. There are already some solid pieces in place for his arrival. He’s got a good No. 1 receiver in Calvin Ridley and a nice backfield tandem of Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears. A lot will be on Ward’s shoulders from the start. Now it’s up to Borgonzi and head coach Brian Callahan to make his life easier.
