Man United were coasting to the Europa League semi-finals with a 2-0 lead at half-time. Manuel Ugarte opened the scoring after just 10 minutes, and Diogo Dalot added another just before the half-time whistle. After a 2-2 draw in the first leg, United were up 4-2 on aggregate at the time, and then the magic started.

Lyon got their first goal of the night in the 71st minute, as Corentin Tolisso scored a scrappy header in the box. Just six minutes later, Nicolás Tagliafico finished off a cross with a terrific finish that barely crossed the line.

Despite a late red card for Lyon, things were poised after the end of 90 minutes with the score level on aggregate at 4-4.

Just like the rest of the game, extra time did not dissapoint. Lyon scored their third goal of the night through Rayan Cherki in the 104th minute. After a counter attack, the Red Devils did not defend the second ball well and it fell to Cherki, who slotted it in the bottom right corner from just inside the box.

Just five minutes later Lyon were awarded a penalty. The former Arsenal player Alexandre Lacazette stepped up for the French side, and buried it. Things didn’t stop there. Just five minutes later, Man United were awarded a penalty of their own for a foul of Casemiro. Bruno Fernandes scored it to reduce the aggregate deficit to 6-5.

With just one minute left on the clock, Man United needed a hero. 19 year old Kobbie Mainoo knew what was at stake, and delivered for Man United. He received the ball on his right foot in the box, and curled one into the right hand corner. You would think that’s where the drama stopped, but you are mistaken.

With the very next play of the game, Man United came forward again. Harry Maguire found himself in the box, and the cross came in from the left hand side. Maguire managed to get himself onto the end of the cross, and headed it into the back of the net. Chaos ensued, as the stadium erupted after two last minute dramatic goals.

United held on for the remaining few minutes and somehow, advanced to the Europa League semi-finals with a 7-6 aggregate win to take on Spanish side Athletic Club. The Red Devils were -145 favorites on the Moneyline at DraftKings Sportsbook. The over/under goals was 2.5, with the over hitting.
