When you’re facing an NL West opponent, the odds are that it’s an excellent team. Luckily for Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers, they play the Colorado Rockies tonight.
These Dodgers may be third in the West, but their 12-6 record is preposterous for a third-place team. The defending champions can’t afford to worry about the rest of the division right now. Keep on winning, and hope that the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants come back down to earth. That continues tonight against the Blake Street Bombers.
Sadly, there’s not much bombing to be found in Colorado these days. Despite playing at Coors Field, the Rockies are dead last in runs scored. On top of that, they’re giving up the third-most runs in the league. It all adds up to a rough night against the defending World Series champs. The reason I like it is the pitching matchup. Rockies starter Ryan Feltner has held the Dodgers’ MVP to one hit in six career at-bats. As a soft tosser without much career success, I’m betting on this being a fluke. It’s time for Ohtani to put some hits on the board against a division rival.
On top of that, Ohtani is coming off a night in which he recorded three hits and a home run. His hot streaks come in bunches, and I’m banking on one starting tonight. Let’s see what the best hitter in baseball can do.
