Here are my top Pick6 plays for the 4/3 MLB slate.
Eugenio Suarez More Than 0.5 Home Runs
Eugenio Suarez is off to a blistering start this season, with an OPS of 1.312. Suarez has exhibited his power, with five home runs and 11 RBIs in just 21 at-bats. Tonight, the conditions are great for Suarez to keep that momentum going. The Diamondbacks are playing at Yankee Stadium, a very hitter-friendly ballpark when it comes to the long ball. Suarez will also be facing Carlos Carrasco to start. In Carrasco’s first appearance this season, he came on in relief against the Brewers. Carrasco gave up three runs, including a two-run homer, in two innings of action in that game. Now, he gets his first start of the season against a dangerous Arizona lineup. Suarez has homered off of Carrasco before in his career and should get some good pitches to hit in this game as well.
Rafael Devers More Than 0.5 Walks
It has been a disastrous start to the 2025 season for Rafael Devers. Devers went 0/19, and the Red Sox were 1-4 through the first five games of his season. Not only was Devers not getting on base, but he looked totally lost at the plate, striking out in 15 of those 19 at-bats. However, Devers finally broke out of the slump yesterday against the Orioles. Devers hit an RBI double, added another single and ended up 2/4 on the night with no strikeouts. Today, Devers has a favorable matchup against Charlie Morton to keep that momentum going. The right-hander got shelled in his first start for Baltimore this season, giving up four runs in just 3.1 innings. Devers also crushes right-handers, historically. Last season, Devers had a .986 OPS against righties, compared to a .686 OPS against lefties. After last night, Morton should be afraid to attack Devers, and with Devers seeing the ball better, he should get a walk in this game. Devers has four walks in his past four games and should pick up another one today.
Elly De La Cruz Less Than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Elly De La Cruz had one monster game against the Rangers where he hit two home runs and drove in seven runs. However, outside of that one game, he has been inconsistent at the plate. In the two games since that explosive performance, De La Cruz is just 1/8 with no runs scored and no RBIs. In the three games before that, he combined for just one RBI. So, De La Cruz’s numbers look good so far this season from the outside, but they are really being buoyed by one big game. De La Cruz struggles against left-handed pitching, and he faces the left-handed Nestor Cortes tonight. Cortes got dominated in his first start this season, but that was against a great Yankees lineup at the hitter-friendly confines of Yankee Stadium. Cortes should have better stuff tonight and be able to handle De La Cruz, who had just a .661 OPS against lefties last season. De La Cruz has had less than 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs in each of his last two games, and he should go under that number again tonight.
Taijuan Walker Less Than 2.5 Earned Runs Allowed
Last season was one to forget for Taijuan Walker. Walker was an All-Star for the Mets in 2021 and was rewarded with a big contract from the Phillies in 2023. After a decent 2023 campaign with Philadelphia, Walker was lost in 2024. He finished the season with an ERA of 7.10, was relegated to the bullpen by the end of the regular season and didn’t even make the postseason roster. All of that being said, Walker was praised for his positive attitude last postseason, supporting his teammates in the dugout despite not being on the postseason roster. Walker might not hit the heights he did in 2021 again, but he should bounce back with a better year in 2025. This will be Walker’s first appearance of the season, and he gets to face a bad Rockies lineup. Colorado has scored two or fewer runs in four of their first five games of the season. Walker should be confident after watching the Rockies score just one run in each of their first two games in Philadelphia this season. Even if Walker has just decent stuff, he should limit the Rockies to less than 2.5 runs during his stint in this game.
Brandon Marsh More Than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
It has been a solid start to the 2025 season for Brandon Marsh. In just 13 at-bats, Marsh has four hits, two runs and three RBIs. He has been out of the lineup the last couple of days but is back in today against the Rockies. Antonio Senzatela will be on the bump for the Rockies against this Phillies lineup. Part of the reason Marsh is back in the lineup is because of his strong splits against right-handed pitching. In his career, Marsh has a tOPS+ of 113 against righties, compared to a tOPS+ of 58 against lefties, one of the more dramatic rightie/leftie splits in the game. Marsh has recorded an RBI in 14% of his career at-bats against right-handed pitching, but in just 9% of his at-bats against lefties. Marsh should be able to get on base, drive in a run or score one himself against the Rockies today.
Charlie Morton Less Than 16.5 Outs
Charlie Morton had an awful first start of the season for Baltimore. He gave up seven hits and four runs in just 3.1 innings of action against the Blue Jays. Now, he faces a Red Sox lineup with more firepower, who are determined to start building some positive momentum. The Sox are just 2-4 through their first six games, but the offense could be finding a rhythm, combining for eight runs in the first two games of the series against Baltimore. Even Rafael Devers finally broke his hitless streak to start the season, getting two hits yesterday against the Orioles. Morton could be in trouble here and should record fewer than 16.5 outs. That would require him to go 5 and 2/3 innings, something he often struggled to do last season. The last time Morton pitched at Fenway Park, he only survived 3.2 innings, and he could be in for another outing like that today.
