Manny Machado left Saturday’s game against the Braves with right calf tightness. Jose Iglesias replaced the All-Star third baseman.
The injury came in the bottom of the fourth during an at-bat. Machado reached for his calf after swinging for strike two. He fouled off the next pitch, hobbling a bit afterward. After stretching, he got back in the box and flied out to right field.
Machado’s night is over, but there isn’t a status for his immediate future yet. It’s unknown how long this injury will keep him out.
The Padres and Braves were tied 0-0 at the time of his exit.
