Just a few minutes before tip-off of Sunday’s game between the Pistons and Pelicans, Cade Cunningham has been scratched from Detroit’s lineup due to left calf soreness. The guard has been durable this season, playing in 66 games, but this late scratch is obviously concerning, as every game is important for the Pistons right now as they chase the Bucks for the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference.
This season, Cunningham is averaging 25.7 points, 9.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds per game, and he was named to his first All-Star team. Currently on DraftKings Sportsbook, Cunningham is the favorite to win Most Improved Player of the Year at -225.
With Cunningham out Sunday, Dennis Schroder will start at point guard for the Pistons, and both Tobias Harris and Malik Beasley should take on larger roles. Despite Cunningham being inactive, Detroit is a 11.5-point favorite over New Orleans on DraftKings Sportsbook.
