UPDATE: Adeabyo ($8,500, knee) and Tyler Herro ($8,400, hip) will both play Sunday vs. the Hornets after being listed as questionable.
The Miami Heat are in the midst of a dismal 10-game losing streak, and now, things may have gone from bad to worse ahead of their next contest.
Big man Bam Adebayo is listed questionable for Sunday’s home matchup against the Charlotte Hornets.
It’s been a disappointing season for the Heat, but Adebayo has struggled individually, as well. The three-time All-Star averages just 17.6 points per game, his lowest mark since the 2019-2020 campaign. To top it off, his 48.6% field-goal percentage is the worst shooting average of his eight-year career.
If Adebayo is unable to play on Sunday against the Hornets, it would certainly be a major blow to a team already in free-fall. The Heat are 29-41 on the year and sit 10th in the Eastern Conference standings — far from their expectations of a playoff run when the season began.
In the event that Adebayo is ruled out, rookie Kel’El Ware likely sees a rise in workload and becomes the Heat’s primary big man. The rookie has shown flashes of excellent play, even alongside Adebayo, and would likely be a value in DraftKings DFS contests. Aside from him, Kevin Love and Haywood Highsmith may also see additional minutes as Miami tries to salvage the end of their season.
