After nearly six weeks sidelined due to an adductor strain, Mavericks star Anthony Davis is nearing a return. Per NBA insider Marc Stein, the center is expected to rejoin Dallas during the team’s upcoming four-game road trip.
It’s been a tough start for Davis, who was traded last month as part of Dallas’ return for Luka Doncic. The former Lakers star played one game for his new team on February 8th before suffering a mid-game injury.
If healthy, AD offers the injury-depleted Mavs a much-needed boost on both ends of the court. This season, the 32-year-old has averaged 25.7 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.3 blocks per game. Dallas is without several major contributors, including guard Kyrie Irving (ACL) and center Daniel Gafford (knee). Currently, the team is tied with the Suns for tenth in the Western Conference with a 34-37 record.
