Garland will be rested for Wednesday’s matchup vs. the Kings, which is the Cavaliers’ second game in two nights. Cleveland is 6.5 games ahead of the Celtics for the No.1 seed in the Eastern Conference, so the Cavaliers giving one of their starters the night off Wednesday isn’t surprising.
Garland has appeared in 64 games this season and he is averaging 20.9 points, 6.7 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 30.5 minutes per game. Garland’s 27.4% usage rate ranks second for Cleveland behind Donovan Mitchell ($8,900) and with Garland inactive, Mitchell should naturally see an increased role. Evan Mobley ($8,700) should also benefit from a larger usage rate. With Garland off the floor this season, Mobley’s usage rises 2.1 percentage points to 25.3%. Lastly, De’Andre Hunter ($5,500) is the top candidate to start in place of Garland.
Cleveland has lost two games in a row for the first time since January, but they are 4-0 without Garland this season. Furthermore, they are facing a Kings team that will be without Domantas Sabonis (ankle). Sacramento is 2-4 with Sabonis inactive this season and the Cavaliers are a five-point favorite for this tilt on DraftKings Sportsbook.
