Report: De’Aaron Fox to miss remainder of season

More unfortunate news has hit the San Antonio Spurs. The team is losing De’Aaron Fox for the remainder of the season as he undergoes finger surgery, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.

This isn’t a new injury as Fox hurt his left pinkie during training camp in October 2024. He dealt with the pain throughout the season but opted to conclude his year now. Charania reported that the reason for the sudden shutdown is to “expedite the healing process.” This decision will get Fox back to 100% quicker than if he played out the remainder of the year.

It certainly helps that the Spurs are out of playoff contention already, so Fox won’t be costing his team a trip to the playoffs. San Antonio fell out of the running when Victor Wembanyama was ruled out for the season.

The organization projects to have a bright future, but the 2024-25 season seems to be just about over. The Spurs are 27-37, sitting in 12th place in the Western Conference with 18 games remaining.

Stephon Castle will shoulder more responsibility with Fox and Wembanyama both sidelined for the rest of the year.
