Josh Allen is coming off the first MVP season of his career, and he’s being paid handsomely for it. The star quarterback agreed to a six-year, $330 million contract that keeps him under contract through 2030.
This deal is not an extension, but rather a brand new contract. Allen had four years remaining on his previous deal, but the Bills and Allen worked on a new contract. Of the $330 million, $250 million is guaranteed. The total is not just the highest amount guaranteed to a quarterback ever, but the highest amount for any player in NFL history.
Allen finished his seventh year in the NFL with a loss to the Chiefs in the AFC championship game. It was a sour ending to what had been a terrific season for him and the Bills. He threw for 3,731 yards and 28 touchdowns, while rushing for 531 yards and 12 scores.
Perhaps his most impressive feat of the year was his limited interceptions. Allen threw just six picks, lowering his total from 18 in 2023. Six is the lowest of his career and the second time beneath 10 in one season.
This new contract doesn’t change the Bills’ outlook as a team, but it shows the franchise’s commitment to their star quarterback. He’ll be under contract through 2030 barring any new, upgraded contracts in the future.
