The first game on Friday night’s big doubleheader on ESPN is an Eastern Conference showdown between the Cavaliers and the Celtics in Boston. Cleveland comes in having won eight straight games since losing to Boston early in February. The Celtics have taken two of the three meetings in the regular season this year, and this will be their last meeting until a potential postseason series. In this huge matchup, let’s take a look at some of the best player prop bets available.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, the Celtics are two-point home favorites in this matchup, which has a point total of 233. The Cavaliers have a clean injury report, while the Celtics listed Jaylen Brown (thigh), Jrue Holiday (finger) and Luke Kornet (personal) as questionable.
Best Prop Bets for Cavaliers vs. Celtics on DraftKings Sportsbook
Donovan Mitchell 30+ points (+130)
Mitchell has scored over 30 points in each of his last four games against the Celtics, including all three this season. Mitchell is averaging only 24.0 points per game in 2024-25, which is why this is available at plus-money.
In the matchup between these teams earlier this month, Mitchell added 10 rebounds and six assists to his 31 points, so you could attack his PRA prop at 40+ (+110) or even 50+ (+475) if you really think he’ll go off.
Mitchell only had 11 points on Wednesday as the Cavs won comfortably in Orlando and he only played 23 minutes. However, on Monday against Memphis, Spida went off for 33 points in 35 minutes.
It’s not a lock for sure, since 30 points is a high number, but getting this at +130 makes it a good place to attack the matchup if you see this being a close contest. Mitchell seems to get up for this matchup against the champs and will get another shot at them on Friday night.
Jayson Tatum over 6.5 assists (+110)
Since Brown and Holiday are uncertain, some of the Celtics props are a little unusual early in the day. However, this one with Tatum for at least seven assists at plus-money looks very solid. Regardless of who has been playing around him in the last few games, Tatum has been dishing dimes.
He only had three assists on Wednesday in the C’s loss to the Pistons, but before that, he had at least seven assists in four straight games and seven of his previous 10 contests. He had 11 assists and a double-double on Tuesday night against the Raptors and posted a triple-double against the Sixers last Thursday. Tatum is +125 to record a double-double on Friday, but I like this assist number at plus-money a little better for him.
In his last four games against the Cavs, Tatum has gone over 6.5 assists three times, including handing out seven helpers in Boston’s visit to The ‘Land three weeks ago.
Derrick White over 3.5 three-pointers (+100)
While he isn’t quite at Donovan Mitchell’s level of production, White does seem to always step up when the Celtics are in close games against good teams. He’s made four or more three-pointers in five of his last six games against teams that held a winning record.
White has also been hot lately from long range, knocking down at least five three-pointers in three straight games and at least three three-pointers in five straight.
When the C’s beat the Cavs earlier this month, White had six three-pointers. He missed one of their other matchups, but had four three-pointers when he faced Cleveland earlier this season.
Evan Mobley over 29.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-110)
Mobley has gone over this PRA total in eight of his last 10 games and in 56% of his games this season. He fell under it on Wednesday since the game was a blowout, but he had gone over this mark in seven straight before that letdown.
Earlier this month, Mobley struggled badly against Boston, shooting only 3-of-14 from the field and finishing with only 14 PRA. He also finished under this level in their December meeting, going just 4-of-13 from the field, but he was well over this mark with 39 PRA in their first meeting of the year back in November.
Mobley will be looking to prove that those down games are not a sign of a bigger problem for the Cavs if we get a dream Cavaliers vs. Celtics matchup in the playoffs. To make a statement, I expect him to be very aggressive on Friday night. He should be able to deliver a win on this prop even if his shot isn’t quite as dialed in as it has been lately (62.5% from the field over his last three games).
