The Minnesota Timberwolves are fighting to rise in the standings amidst a tough Western Conference, but they may be in for a hard-fought battle without their superstar against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday.
Minnesota’s prized shooting guard, Anthony Edwards, is officially listed questionable for Thursday’s contest with a calf injury.
Edwards played 36 minutes in a thrilling overtime win over the Thunder on February 24, posting 17 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists in that matchup. If he suits up on Thursday, he’ll look to bounce back and produce closer to his season-long averages of 27.5 points, 6.0 boards, and 4.2 assists.
If Edwards doesn’t play against the Lakers, The Timberwolves would likely have a difficult time coming out with a victory. Forward Julius Randle remains out due to an injury, while center Rudy Gobert is also ruled out.
One player who could benefit from Edwards’ potential absence is Donte DiVincenzo, though he is listed questionable with a toe issue. Mike Conley and Jaden McDaniels could also see additional opportunities without Edwards in the lineup, while rookies Jaylen Clark and Rob Dillingham are sleeper picks for DFS contests.
Minnesota has a 32-27 record ahead of Thursday’s game, good for seventh in the Western Conference.
