The Dodgers finally broke through in 2024, after years of coming up short in the postseason (excluding the Covid season), they put it all together and won the World Series in dominant fashion. For the most part, Los Angeles returns a dominant lineup for 2025, aside from some minor tweaks. The Dodgers finished second in MLB last season with 5.26 runs per game, and were actually the most productive road offense in baseball, scoring 5.58 runs per game.
Now the confident Dodgers return all their key bats, but there are really two reasons I’m so heavily backing this team in a variety of ways. The first is the rotation. When I saw how this Dodgers’ rotation breaks down for 2025 it was mind blowing. This team has 12 arms listed as starting pitchers, and it’s not even debatable that they could role an eight-man rotation out there just for fun if they wanted to.
Tyler Glasnow and Tony Gonsolin, who have been in the mix for recent Cy Young Awards, both went down with injuries last season, but are now healthy. Yoshinobu Yamamoto is ready to build off a terrific rookie season, and now another rookie signing from Japan is in the mix in Roki Sasaki. Recent Cy Young winner Blake Snell joins the top of the rotation, after bouncing around the division in recent seasons.
That’s an elite five-man rotation right there, but wait … the reigning NL MVP, who won the award strictly due to his bat, is due to return to the rotation early in the season. Who knows exactly what Shohei Ohtani can provide as a starting pitcher this season, but that’s an absurd luxury to be able to ease him back.
None of this includes Clayton Kershaw, who re-signed with the team and will be available to use in certain spots. Keeping Kershaw fresh just might leave him healthy for when he’s needed. Beyond these guys, Dustin May, Landon Knack, Gavin Stone, Emmet Sheehan and River Ryan are all in the mix. That’s just absurd pitching depth, to the point that this team can sustain injuries throughout the season, and be able to throw a quality arm (if not elite) on any given night.
The second reason I like backing the Dodgers to much is that we’re getting tremendous priced at DraftKings Sportsbook. Looking across the market, the Dodgers win total is set at 104.5 at almost every shop. But at DKSB, getting to 105 wins is priced at +140. That’s reflective of the prices on all the Dodgers futures I listed below, which have the best prices at DKSB. While it’s easy to look past the Dodgers priced as such a heavy favorite, these prices still aren’t where they should be. This has the chance to be a historically good baseball team.
The Dodgers are out to a nice 2-0 start thanks to a couple of international games last week, but markets are still available ahead of the true Opening Day in MLB.
