The NBA All-Star Game is taking on a new format in hopes to excite both players and fans for the annual event.

Rather than an East vs. West or two drafted teams, there will be four squads of eight players participating in a mini tournament. Kenny Smith, Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley drafted the 24 All-Stars onto three separate teams. The fourth group is the winner of the Rising Stars Challenge.

Team Kenny will face off against Team Chuck in the first round, while Team Shaq will play Team Candace (the Rising Stars winner). The winner of these games will compete in a championship game. All three games will be played to the target score of 40.

Who won the 2025 All-Star Game MVP?

Stephen Curry won the 2025 All-Star Game MVP in front of his home crowd at the Chase Center. He was a member of Team Shaq, which won the All-Star Game this year.

Curry had 12 points, four rebounds, one assist and two steals, while shooting 4-of-8 from the field in the championship. He had eight points and six rebounds in the semifinals.

10:58 p.m.: Curry wins the 2025 All-Star Game MVP.

10:49 p.m.: Tatum dunks in the winning points as Team Shaq wins 41-25.

10:48 p.m.: An eight-second violation in the All-Star Game. There’s a first for everything!

10:47 p.m.: This is a blowout. Curry looks away as he drains ANOTHER triple. Lead is now 39-21.

10:46 p.m.: My goodness, things are heating up on offense. Irving throws himself a self-lob.

10:45 p.m.: FROM HALFCOURT! Curry drains one from HALFCOURT!

10:43 p.m.: Some sloppy play for both teams right now, but Team Shaq still leads 19-11.

10:41 p.m.: Wembanyama checks in and makes a 3-pointer. Tatum trades one on the other end, giving him 11 points now.

10:40 p.m.: Finally back from break. Towns starts off with a layup. Team Shaq lead 11-3.

10:20 p.m.: Tatum AGAIN! Team Shaq is up 11-0 to start this as Team Chuck is 0-10 from the field. Tatum is up to eight points. Wow.

10:18 p.m.: Jokic missed BOTH free throws. Not a good start for the All-Star Game championship.

10:17 p.m.: Curry hits a running 3-pointer to start this championship off.

9:49 p.m.: DAME TIME…finally. Took a handful of possessions but Team Shaq finally puts away Team Candace 42-35.

9:44 p.m.: Lillard’s step-back 3-pointer puts them within three points of the win.

9:43 p.m.: Irving connects with Brown for the fastbreak alley-oop to put Team Shaq up 34-28. Dunn answers with an and-1 to cut it down to 34-31.

9:36 p.m.: Team Shaq leads 28-26 with a timeout on the floor. This is far closer than many expected.

9:35 p.m.: Oh wow, Team Candace takes a 21-20 lead.

9:34 p.m.: Curry is not phased with defenders in his grill! He’s up to eight points.

9:28 p.m.: Lillard with a long 3-pointer to put Team Shaq up 15-10 heading into the first break. He needed one more of those during the Mr. Beast Challenge.

9:27 p.m.: Harden nails a 3-pointer to put Team Shaq up 12-10. The Rising Stars are keeping pace so far.

9:26 p.m.: Curry putting on a show in his home arena with that fading 3-pointer.

9:24 p.m.: George knocks down a triple to start the game off.

9:20 p.m.: Team Shaq vs. Team Candace is about to begin.

9:07 p.m.: BANNGGGG! The fan makes the logo 3-pointer and wins the $100,000. It took a while, but he got the win before Lillard made his third attempt.

9:04 p.m.: The Mr. Beast Challenge is taking place. If this one fan can make one logo shot before Lillard makes three, he gets $100,000.

9:03 p.m.: Edwards is dealing with groin soreness.

9 p.m.: Edwards did not play for Team Kenny. His team is eliminated.

8:58 p.m.: Gilgeous-Alexander beats Jackson for the easy bucket to secure the 41-32 victory.

8:56 p.m.: My goodness, Wembanyama and Cunningham trade slams. Chuck leads 36-29.

8:55 p.m.: Wembanyama nearly looked DOWN INTO the rim on that lob wow.

8:51 p.m.: Young lays in the 30th point of the game to put Team Chuck up 30-27 heading into the final break.

8:50 p.m.: Garland to Williams for the alley-oop slam! Team Kenny leads 27-26.

8:49 p.m.: Wembanyama is not playing around, he blocks Cunningham after a neat crossover.

8:47 p.m.: Wembanyama! He dunks all over Herro in the post.

8:46 p.m.: And Garland’s 3-pointer gives Team Kenny the 20-19 lead.

8:44 p.m.: A Brunson triple cuts the lead to 17-15. Chuck is leading.

8:40 p.m.: WOW, more deep 3-pointers from Herro and Towns.

8:37 p.m.: Believe it or not, there is some defense being played. Team Chuck leads 7-5 so far.

8:36 p.m.: Herro and Towns trade back-to-back 3-pointers.

8:34 p.m.: Brunson, Herro, Williams, Mobley and Jackson are starting for Team Chuck. Mitchell, Gilgeous-Alexander, Jokic, Towns and Siakam are staring for Team Kenny.

8:26 p.m.: Team Kenny vs. Team Chuck is the first matchup of the night. Game is about to begin.

8:20 p.m.: Is it really All-Star Weekend without Kevin Hart? He walks out with a big intro during Ernie Johnson’s speech.

8:12 p.m.: The teams are being introduced as players are taking the floor. The first game will begin afterward.

8:02 p.m.: LeBron James won’t play tonight in the All-Star Game due to ankle and foot discomfort. There won’t be a replacement.
