The long grind of the NFL season is nearly over as the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles will square off in Super Bowl LIX.
The Philadelphia Eagles will get their second chance in the span of three seasons to take down Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs on the biggest stage. Kansas City will be looking to etch its name in NFL immortality by becoming the first team in history to win three consecutive Super Bowls. Philadelphia has re-tooled its roster and enters with an improved defense and Saquon Barkley on its side.
The Chiefs enter this game as 1.5-point favorites and -115 on the moneyline. The Eagles are -105 underdogs on the moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook and the game total is set at 48.5 points.
There are nearly endless ways you can get involved in the action on DraftKings Sportsbook. You can check out insights from just about every category on DK Network. These are the top Eagles prop bets ahead of the Super Bowl matchup.
Jalen Hurts Anytime Touchdown (-120)
The Philadelphia Eagles have embraced their identity as a run-first football team with this being especially evident around the goal line. Both Barkley and Jalen Hurts finished in the top eight in the NFL in rushing touchdowns this season. They had 27 combined between them. They have built off this in the playoffs combining for nine rushing touchdowns through the first three playoff games with Hurts responsible for four of these scores.
Hurts has tallied 55 rushing touchdowns in his career while only starting 66 total games. He has recorded a rushing touchdown in 12 of the 18 games he has played this season including four games with at least two rushing touchdowns. The “tush-push” opportunities steal the headlines, and count all the same, but Hurts is also plenty capable of using his legs in read-options and designed run opportunities. During Super Bowl LVII, Hurts reached the end zone three times with his legs.
While Barkley is plenty capable in his own right and will have many chances to make his imprint on this game, Hurts is the top option in the red zone. Expect the Eagles to utilize his 6-foot-1 frame and massive strength whenever the goal line is within reach. Getting -120 odds for the top red zone option for the Eagles is great value. Expect him to add to his touchdown total on the biggest stage.
Nolan Smith Jr. Over 0.25 Sacks (-116)
This is not the same Eagles defensive front that tallied 70 sacks in the regular season and matched up with the Chiefs two years ago. But there are more notable concerns with this Chiefs’ offensive line and hopefully a better surface for pass rushers than was the case in 2023. The youthful defensive front of the Eagles has shown signs of growth throughout the season with Nolan Smith Jr. especially breaking out in recent weeks.
After being selected with the 30th overall pick in last year’s draft, Smith was held to just one total sack as a rookie. He tallied 6.5 quarterback takedowns this season and has taken his game to another level in the postseason. The Georgia product has recorded four sacks already in this playoff run, logging at least one sack in each game. Smith has a favorable matchup in this game looking to primarily be matched up with Chiefs tackle Jawaan Taylor. The 27-year-old finished the season ranked 62nd out of 81 qualifying tackles on PFF, allowing a team-high 41 pressures and seven sacks during the regular season. There are only seven tackles in the NFL that have given up more pressures than Taylor this year.
Patrick Mahomes was sacked a career-high 36 times this season and has been taken down five times across the opening two playoff games. As a team, the Eagles tallied two sacks against the Packers, five sacks against the Rams and three sacks against the Commanders. Smith has been a key part of this and has a favorable matchup to continue building off this. While Brandon Graham is set to return, expect this to provide more of an emotional boost than box score impact. Graham has not played since Nov. 24, while Smith has logged at least 80 percent of the defensive snaps in each playoff game. Count on him to add to his impressive playoff output and record over 0.25 sacks against Mahomes.
Saquon Barkley Longest Rush Over 24.5 Yards (-120)
The Philadelphia Eagles will be looking to lean on what got them here: Barkley. Meanwhile, the Chiefs’ biggest priority will be slowing down the star running back. Barkley’s rushing props are set at over/under 111.5 yards and he holds -195 odds for an anytime touchdown on DraftKings Sportsbook.
While Barkley is plenty capable of breaking this sky-high total, and has in 11 of the 19 games this year, this number is reliant on him breaking free for a huge gain. The former Giants star had a 60-yard rushing touchdown against the Commanders and a 78-yard rushing touchdown against the Rams already during this playoff run. With this in mind, I think it is a better play to take Barkley to record a longest rush of over 24.5 yards rather than his overall rushing total.
Barkley has recorded a longest rush of over 24.5 yards in 11 of the 19 games he has played this year including the past two playoff matchups. Even on the star-studded Eagles roster, Barkley has become the clear top talent, so Philadelphia is sure to give him the ball plenty. The Eagles’ offensive line does an excellent job winning the battle at the line of scrimmage and paving the way for Barkley to get to the second level. He has the talent to take things from there and change the outlook of an entire game. Count on Philadelphia to remain committed to the rushing game regardless of the game script and for Barkley to have plenty of opportunities to break free. Regardless of the level of defensive attention he commands, Barkley is too talented to remain fully neutralized. I like his chances of logging at least one rush of 25+ yards.
