All the buzz around the NBA trade deadline overshadowed Anthony Edwards’ 49-point performance last night.
The Timberwolves star torched the Bulls and will suit up for the second night of a back to back. His 49 points was his second best scoring output of the season.
Tonight will be a more difficult matchup as the Timberwolves host the Rockets. Houston is the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference.

Edwards’ scoring is what stands out in the box score. The 23-year-old can drop 30 points on any given night, which is a reason why the Timberwolves are always a threat.
His rebounding, however, goes under the radar, especially in recent games. He averages 5.8 rebounds per game, which is third on the team behind Rudy Gobert and Julius Randle. With Randle sidelined, Edwards has an increased responsibility on the glass.
Over his last four games, Edwards is averaging 7.0 rebounds per game. He has hit the over 5.5 mark in each of these outings. Tonight will a tough test as the Rockets are the best rebounding team in the NBA.
While Jabari Smith is injured, Alperen Sengun and Amen Thompson will lead the unit per usual. It’ll give Edwards some issues, but it shouldn’t be enough to keep him under 5.5 rebounds.
