The 2023 NFL regular season has reached December and the playoff picture is heating up. Week 13 featured only one divisional matchup, but some critical games across the league.
The Cowboys opened the week with a rather wild win over the Seahawks on Thursday Night Football. The Dolphins had no problems against the Commanders and now have a three-game lead on the Bills with five weeks remaining. The Dolphins and Bills face off in Week 18, but Miami will probably clinch the division before then.
Below are the eight divisional standings, along with some quick thoughts about each division after 13 weeks of football. We’ll update with remaining records as the league moves toward Week 14.
AFC East
The Patriots lost an ugly one to the Chargers with Bailey Zappe starting at QB. The Dolphins crushed the Commanders to take a three-game lead in the division. The Jets lost to the Falcons.
AFC North
The Steelers lost to the Cardinals after Kenny Pickett injured his ankle. The Browns lost to the Rams. The Bengals upset the Jaguars in overtime.
AFC South
The Texans made an end zone interception to hold off the Broncos. The Titans lost to the Colts. The Jaguars lost to the Bengals in overtime and lost Trevor Lawrence to an ankle sprain.
AFC West
The Chargers beat the Patriots in Foxboro. The Broncos came up short against the Texans.
NFC East
The Cowboys beat the Seahawks to open the week. The Commanders lost an ugly one to the Dolphins. The Eagles lost an ugly one to the 49ers.
NFC North
The Lions held off the Saints to add a half game on their division lead.
NFC South
The Falcons beat the Jets while the Saints lost to the Lions. That moves Atlanta a full game up on New Orleans. The Bucs beat the Panthers, which eliminated Carolina from playoff contention.
NFC West
The Seahawks lost to the Cowboys on Thursday Night Football. The Cardinals beat the Steelers. The Rams beat the Browns. The 49ers thumped the Eagles.
