Roki Sasaki was one of the prized free agents during this offseason. The 23-years-old, right-handed pitcher from Japan is 6-foot-4, 203 pounds and throws a blazing fastball complemented by a forkball, curveball and slider. The fastball averages in the 98 mph range and has been clocked as high as 102.5 mph.
The final contenders for Sasaki seemed to be the Dodgers, Padres and Blue Jays. Los Angeles had the least amount of money in their international bonus pool, and the Blue Jays made a trade on Friday to increase theirs, but money ended up not being the main priority, as Sasaki announced on his Instagram page that he will be signing with the Dodgers.

The defending champions recently signed Blake Snell and now boast a starting rotation of Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, Sasaki and possibly Shohei Ohtani.
