The 2024 NFL Draft begins on Thursday, April 25. Months of mock drafts and analysis will conclude as the newest NFL rookies learn the landing spots where they will begin their professional careers.
While we typically hear advice from former players, coaches and current journalists, a former NFL executive can offer an interesting draft perspective. Michael Lombardi is back with another episode of The GM Shuffle presented by DraftKings Network to preview the Draft and make some predictions.
Lombardi, joined by co-host Femi Abebefe, goes in-depth on how he would draft this year. Caleb Williams is the consensus No. 1 overall pick, and after that, it can vary depending on who you talk to. Lombardi thinks that the Washington Commanders need to select J.J. McCarthy out of Michigan with the No. 2 pick, and the New England Patriots would then take Jayden Daniels third overall. Lombardi expresses that he isn’t high on Drake Maye and he believes the UNC product falls. When it comes to wide receivers, he thinks that Malik Nabers edges out Marvin Harrison Jr. and Romeo Odunze is overrated. Lombardi and Abebefe run through the first 10 picks and focus on how many quarterbacks will be selected in the first round, with reports suggesting six QBs are expected to be drafted on Thursday.
