The Washington Commanders open the 2024 season with a matchup against the Buccaneers in Week 1. The Commanders finished 2023 with a 4-13 record, landing in last place in their division and missing the playoffs. Washington parted ways with head coach Ron Rivera in the offseason and brought on former Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn to lead the team.
They drafted quarterback Jayden Daniels to run their offense with the second overall pick of the 2024 Draft, and added running back Austin Ekeler and tight end Zach Ertz in the offseason. On the defensive side, they also signed LB Bobby Wagner and edge rusher Clelin Ferrell. They released TE Logan Thomas and traded away quarterback Sam Howell. After Daniels, the Commanders used their draft picks to select DT Jer’Zhan Newton, DB Mike Sainristil, TE Ben Sinnott, OL Brandon Coleman, and WR Luke McCaffrey.
