A UFC staple makes his return to the octagon as Jose Aldo faces off against Jonathan Martinez in a bantamweight fight at UFC 301. The clash will serve as co-main event of UFC 301 which takes place this Saturday, May 4 from Farmasi Arena in Rio De Janerio, Brazil.
The event will air across the ESPN network, with the main card broadcast starting at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
Aldo (31-8) is a 2023 UFC Hall of Fame inductee, two-time featherweight titleholder and the first featherweight champion in UFC history. In his last fight, Aldo came up short against Merab Dvalishvili back in 2022. Nonetheless, “Junior” will be fighting in front of his hometown crowd for the first time since May 2019, when he lost to Alexander Volkanovski.
Martinez (19-4) has been an active fighter in the UFC since November 2018, winning his last six fights. Slowly but surely the 30-year-old has worked up the ranks of the 135-pound division. With recent wins over Adrian Yanez, Said Nurmagomedov, and Cub Swanson, this marks his first PPV appearance since UFC 247 back in February 2020.
