DraftKings Value Picks
PG/SG Collin Sexton ($6,000)
My birthday is in a few weeks, but getting a gift early is always nice. This pre-assigned price tag is shockingly low, so I refreshed multiple times to ensure my eyes weren’t deceiving me. Collin Sexton is a sub-All-Star-level guy, but he has a fluorescent green light on a team with no desire to win games. Sexton is the alpha on the Utah offense, often dominating the rock and running the show.
Having keys to the castle has helped him stuff the box score, racking up over 30 fantasy points in nine straight contests. Sexton uses his hyper-athleticism to barrel to the cup or kick out the ball to the perimeter. He’s shaky from beyond the arc, but if the stroke is on point, his DFS ceiling only rises. Regardless of the infrastructure around him, he puts up too many counting stats to ignore. Squaring off against Dyson Daniels is a terrifying proposition, but the league’s steals leader doesn’t shadow his assignments. Sexton will have enough opportunity to make a significant impact.
C Onyeka Okongwu ($4,600)
Clint Capela is fine. He’s still an active rebounder but consistently a step slow on both ends and a liability defending outside of the paint. Onyeka Okongwu is a superior option on the Hawks roster who is starting to get more run as a rim-running big. Okongwu is a far better lob threat off pick-and-roll or hovering around the dunker spot. Defensively, he offers premier anticipation and can hold his own on the blocks.
Coach Quinn Snyder has shown a reluctance to make Okongwu the full-time center, but he performs when he’s on the floor. He is dominant on the glass in a small sample, so the fantasy ability comes to fruition if there’s moderate offensive production. Okongwu is starting to shoot more, taking over ten attempts in five of his last nine outings. Outside of Walker Kessler, Utah is vulnerable down low, and Okongwu will continue his fifth-year ascent.
